The NYI in the Eastern District on the South Field held a
sports day on the 16 June 2008.The purpose of this was to unite young people
through sports across the district and to encourage fellowship amongst young
people on their district. The event took place in Thulamahashe stadium where
450 young people attended. The day took off with opening prayer and greetings
brought by Kenneth Phiri (Africa NYI President), then soccer and netball teams
from local zones played against each other and there was a wonderful
atmosphere. The young people sang and cheered on teams from their local
churches. The youth in mission team that is ministering around this district
also received an opportunity to spend the day fellowshipping with young people
from this part of the land. We thank God for the leaders of the NYI in this
district that took time to organize such a great and exciting event .Much
appreciation to Mr Elon Maluleka (sport director).Rev Dance Mathebula (district
NYI President) who thanked the young people for their wonderful behaviour and
encouraged them to participate in future activities.Rev Dick Chawane closed the day
by thanking God for making this day a success.
